Susan Higman has served as Director of Research and Analysis at the Global Health Council since November 2007 and as Interim Co-CEO since August 2011. Susan received an MA in American Government in 1997 and a PhD in Maternal and Child Health in 2004, both from Johns Hopkins University (School of Arts & Sciences and Bloomberg School of Public Health, respectively).
As Interim co-CEO of the Global Health Council, Susan manages both the daily operations and implementation of the organization’s mission and vision. As Director of Research & Analysis at the Global Health Council, she is responsible for managing the systematic review and synthesis of literature in order to ground the policy positions in the best evidence. She directs the research-based work on maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases and health systems. In addition, she oversees production of print and electronic publications appealing to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Prior to the Global Health Council, Susan’s work focused on the evaluation of early childhood development programs, particularly the Hawaii Healthy Start Program and Healthy Families Alaska, at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In addition to assessing program impact, her research focused on understanding the relationship between family dynamics, parenting practices, child behavior and child cognitive development. Her work also examined the impact of a "medical home" in providing primary care to families and analyzed which medical home factors determined positive child health outcomes.
Prior to child development research, Susan was Associate Director of Student Pugwash USA, an organization focused on raising student awareness of the ethical issues and the implications of scientific and technological developments in society. With a BS in Biology, she has also conducted research in multidrug resistance to cancer drugs, including mapping the genetic structure of murine mdr genes.
Tina Flores is the Global Health Council’s director of strategic communications. In this role, she leads the organization’s communications efforts serves as editor-in-chief of GLOBAL HEALTH Magazine. GLOBAL HEALTH Magazine is the leading publication that tracks trends in global health policy and practice. She manages the Global Health Council’s relationships with social media and traditional media and liaises with member organizations. Tina has been working in global health communications for more than a decade, highlighting the work of our members and partners in the field. She has a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Carleton College and a master’s degree in evaluative clinical sciences from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Sciences.
Christopher Gibbs is the Global Health Council’s Member Services/Database Administrator. Christopher works on GHC’s Membership Team, where he is responsible for the day to day management of member services and GHC’s constituency database. Christopher started at the Global Health Council in the Events and Member Services Department in Vermont 10 years ago.
Rachel Hampton is a Research Associate at the Global Health Council. She graduated from George Washington University, Washington DC with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology. She has worked and traveled extensively on five different continents. Her main focus areas at the Global Health Council are maternal, newborn, and child health and reproductive health.
Franklin Merritt provides Information Technology Support for the Global Health Council. Franklin joined GHC in 2004. He currently splits his time between I.T. management, digital web media and accounts payable.
Craig Moscetti currently serves as Senior Manager at the Global Health Council, where he serves as the lead analyst on U.S. global health budget and policy issues. Craig also leads GHC’s engagement on non-communicable diseases, including serving as chair of the NCD Roundtable. Before joining GHC, Craig served as a global health fellow with BRAC Bangladesh and the James P. Grant School of Public Health, and a global health analyst with the Congressional Research Service. He has also consulted with the Pan American Health Organization and UNICEF. He holds a Master’s in Public Health from the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, where his training focused on global health policy.
Kathryn Rosecrans is a Research Associate at the Global Health Council. She works on GHC’s infectious disease portfolio, conducting research, writing reports, and supporting meetings and events. Prior to joining GHC, Kathryn was awarded a Fulbright grant to study Chagas disease in Mexico. She studied international health and development at Tulane University School of Public Health and Medicine and has a special interest in neglected tropical diseases. Kathryn's undergraduate degree is in cultural anthropology, and has worked and traveled in Asia and Latin America.
Kimberly Sayles is currently the Operations Administrator for the Global Health Council, responsible for human resources, benefits administration, accounts payable and is the point of contact for any and all things related to the operation of GHC. Kimberly is also the Internship Coordinator, a program that she has overseen since she joined GHC in 2010. Kimberly brings to GHC over 15 years of Administrative Support experience, supporting high-level executives in the public and private sectors.
