Training of Trainers on Fertility Awareness Methods

The Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University is pleased to invite you to participate in a training of trainers on two Fertility Awareness Methods: the Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM) and the Standard Days Method® (SDM) of family planning. This course is designed to train trainers who work in pre-service and in-service training programs and to help organizations working in low-resource settings introduce the SDM into their method mix, with little or no assistance from the Institute.
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the SDM and LAM.
- Demonstrate how to assess, inform and support clients interested in using these methods
- Demonstrate how to use CycleBeads® and the various job aids for SDM and LAM
- Increase the trainer’s comfort level related to couple communication and counseling clients on how to manage their fertile days.

University of Oxford Global Health Summer School July 13-17 2009
The University of Oxford Department of Public Health and the Department for Continuing Education present a one-week Summer School designed to introduce participants to topics central to current global health research and to provide an understanding of the principles, methods and practice of global health.
The Global Health Summer School will aid in developing appropriate skills in relation to participants' work in global and public health and to help participants understand how research evidence, ethical frameworks and programme evaluation can impact on and be used in global and public health.
The Summer School consists of three units spread over five days, with participants attending all three units. Each day will include a key plenary session on a global health topic, following which participants will cover each of the following:- Research Methods - Introduction to Epidemiological Studies, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis
- Designing and Evaluating Public Health Programmes
- Ethics for Global Health

Description: This national summit will attempt to find better health care delivery systems in both rural and urban settings in HIV/AIDS prevention and education for the Native American Indian community. The summit is designed to raise awareness of the threat HIV/AIDS poses to this community, due to public policy issues that are affecting funding and other health care aspects. The conference will also provide the opportunity to increase awareness of the devastating and disproportionate effects of AIDS in the Native American Indian community, having the third highest rates of HIV infection per 100,000, while only representing less then 1% of the population. Federal entities including IHS, CDC, HRSA, and many others will present workshops and round table discussions. Native American representatives from tribes throughout the USA will be asked to attend. |
