Career Connection Bringing Global Health Recruiters and Job Seekers Together


What is Career Connection?

The Council's annual Career Connection gives job seekers an opportunity to network and explore job and internship opportunities in the field of global health, while also giving recruiters the opportunity to review resumes and conduct interviews for positions they are trying to fill.
What Does It Include?

Conference participants who have signed up for Career Connection as part of their conference registration receive access to:
- Special career-oriented sessions during the three days of the conference
- An Orientation and Social Hour on Tuesday, June 1
2 – 4 pm, Palladian Ballroom
An overview of the employment outlook in global health, tips for successful job searches, strategies for making the most of the conference, and an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and get acquainted with fellow Career Connection participants.

- A Breakfast Session on Wednesday, June 2
7:30 – 8:30 am, Congressional Rooms A/B
Experienced global health professionals help job seekers understand how to make the all-important "good first impression" as the conference begins and job seekers prepare to go forth for networking and interviewing. Advice on resume writing and interviewing techniques, and invaluable tips on garnering field experience are included.

- A Brown Bag Session on Thursday, June 3
12:30 – 1:20 pm, Empire Ballroom
Grab your lunch and come learn more about organizations working in the international health sphere. Professionals will describe the unique characteristics of their field and how they got started.

- A Breakfast Session on Friday, June 4

Global Opportunities for Internships and Fellowships. An informational session dealing with entry level internships and mid-career fellowships.

- Career Resource Center
- Information Central for late-breaking job postings, communications between recruiters and job seekers, and collecting further information about the field of global health

- Job-Postings Binder for Job Seekers:
- Upon check-in onsite, all job-seekers will receive a binder filled with the job postings provided by recruiters participating in Career Connection.

- Resume Binder for Recruiters
- Approximately one week prior to the conference, all recruiters will be mailed a binder of resumes for all job seekers registered for Career Connection and their availability for interviews during the conference.
How Does It Work?
- Upon arrival at the conference, Career Connection participants pick up their name badges and conference registration materials at Global Health Council's Registration Desk in the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

- On Tuesday, June 1:
- Check-in for Career Connection begins at 2:00 pm in the Palladian Ballroom at the Omni Shoreham, where job seekers will receive a binder of job postings provided by recruiters, and all will receive further information regarding the use of the Career Resource Center and Interview Facilities.
- The Career Connection Orientation will begin at 2:00 pm in the Palladian Ballroom. A social hour with refreshments follows the presentations.

- On Wednesday, June 2 and Thursday June3:
- The Career Resource Center in the Exhibit Hall is open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and check-in is available for those unable to attend the orientation session on the 1st.
- Throughout the day, job seekers and recruiters have the opportunity to connect through the Career Resource Center for networking and interviews, and job seekers have an opportunity to view late-breaking job postings that do not appear in their binders.

- On Friday, June 4:
- The Career Resource Center is open from 8:00 am - 11:00 am for viewing of job postings, networking and interviewing.
Please note that interviews are conducted at the discretion of recruiters. The Global Health Council cannot guarantee interviews.
