 Welcome to the Global Health Council’s 34th annual conference.
 Some 2,000 of us from 80 countries gather this week for sharing, learning and advocating. But as most of you know, this conference is more than that. It is a time to renew friendships and make new acquaintances. Just as important, it is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments that we as a community have achieved.
This year’s conference theme, Partnerships: Working Together for Global Health, articulates so much of what we at the Global Health Council strive to do. The Council builds bridges among the different players in health, ultimately creating collaboration, networking and alliance-building; linking advocacy to policy, policy to practice, and practice back to research. Our work is built around providing venues for our members and partners to engage with each other – a means to an end that equates to better health for the world’s poorest citizens.
