The Global Health Council discussed the importance of addressing chronic diseases in the developing world. As we continue to make progress in combating communicable diseases, chronic diseases are having increasing impact on the health of people in the developing world. It is vital that the global health community learn more about the devastating impact these chronic diseases have on the world's poorest and come together to identify ways to integrate responses to these diseases into overall global health programs.
Our expert speakers discussed three chronic diseases - diabetes, cancer and cardio-vascular disease - all important causes of mortality and morbidity in the developing world.
Featured Speakers Include:- Enrique Pérez Flores, MD, MPH, Non-Communicable Diseases Unit, PAHO
