National Consultation on Young People: Towards a Healthy Future

Greetings from the Alliance of "Young People: Towards a Healthy Future"
The alliance invites you to participate in the three day National Consultation on "Young People: Towards a Healthy Future"
As you are aware, adolescents today face a very real threat to their health and lives. Despite constituting almost one third of our population, their health and development issues have rarely gained the recognition and attention they deserve. Realizing this, twelve national and international NGOs and organizations (Bal Panchayat, CASP, CEDPA, CHETNA, CINI, Global Health Council, MAMTA, NFI, Pathfinder International, Population Council, Population Foundation of India and Plan International) have been working in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to focus on issues related to adolescent/youth health and development at the national level.
The aim of the alliance is to enable adolescents/youth to address their health and development issues with special emphasis on reproductive and sexual health through effective programs and policies. Thus, the national consultation will work to,
- Create an enabling environment for young people to openly discuss issues related to health, particularly reproductive and sexual health and rights and development from diverse viewpoints
- Develop a strong and vibrant network of youth, locally and internationally, to advocate for young people’s health and development
- Develop an evidence based advocacy strategy and move towards mobilizing policy makers
500 participants from all over India and belonging to varied backgrounds will attend the consultation and bring together their unique and diverse view points and experiences to create a common vision and goal for the youth alliance. The National Level Consultation will also provide a platform to various representatives from different states to share experiences from their own state level consultations.
