Avian Influenza Technical Update
More Policy Series events >
featuring Dr. Murray Trostle, USAID
Thursday, May 11, 2006
10-11 am
1111 19th Street, NW, Suite 1120
Washington, D.C.
The global threat of Avian Influenza is increasing every day. Although the deadly flu strain remains an ocean away from the U.S., it has already caused death, economic loss and fear in many of the countries in which many of us work. The potential of an influenza pandemic raises a number of issues pertinent to the overall global health agenda - issues of surveillance, health care infrastructure/preparedness, vaccine production, and the role of private industry. Many in the NGO community, on Capitol Hill and in private industry have begun discussions about what can be done.
Over fifty people joined us for an update on USAID program activities and a discussion of future needs and key messaging as to how the potential pandemic will affect long-standing global health programming.
