Rethinking Maternal Health

Congressional Briefing
Every year 536,000 mothers die during childbirth even though cost-effective treatments and services exist that can save their lives. Why are women not accessing these programs? What are the obstacles and what can policymakers do to reduce maternal mortality? This briefing was held to learn about best practices and solutions to saving mothers’ lives around the world. Our panelists discussed proven programs on the ground, health systems strengthening and funding mechanisms.
