Scan Methodology
We conducted our environmental scan through a series of interviews with global health leaders and professionals in four relatively distinct (but sometimes overlapping) areas: policy makers, policy advocates, program implementers and donors. We selected interview participants based on staff recommendations and a list of randomly selected members from our membership and Candlelight Memorial coordinators lists.

Key questions touched on the following areas:
  • Trends and emerging issues that will impact global health
  • Implications of global trends and emerging issues for those working in global health
  • Suggested goals and priorities for the next five to ten years
  • How the Council can work most effectively
From January 26 through March 1, 2007, we conducted 34 interviews with 36 people averaging approximately 45 minutes each. We conducted six additional interviews with Council Annual Conference participants based outside of the U.S. on May 30.
