Getting Research into Policy and Practice (GRIPP) |

|
Getting a GRIPP is not as easy as you think. Due to a lack
of awareness of the important contribution research can make to the policy making
process or the existence of various barriers or conflicting interests, research
evidence is frequently under-utilized by decision makers and practitioners. In
the healthcare arena this can lead to loss of life, poor quality care and/or misuse
or under-use of resources.
Through interactive workshops targeted at healthcare
decision makers, the program aims to promote better understanding of evidence-based
approaches to health care and facilitate dialogue between researchers, policy
makers and practitioners.
Participants discuss the value of systematic reviews of the effects of health
care and how to identify and interpret the findings of these reviews and other
relevant healthcare resources. Attendees also explore factors that need to be
considered when applying research evidence in a real world setting and discuss
challenges and opportunities for evidence-based policy and practice.
