What We Do

The Global Health Council works to ensure that all who strive for improvement and equity in global health have the information and resources they need to succeed. To achieve this goal, the Council serves as the voice for action on global health issues and the voice for progress in the global health field.

The Voice for Action
The Council informs and educates opinion leaders, policy-makers, the media and concerned citizens about crucial global health issues. The Council's efforts in local communities, with national governments, and with multilateral agencies spur greater investment in global health and sound approaches to improving health around the world. The Council:

Mobilizes hundreds of thousands through grassroots efforts (See International AIDS Candlelight Memorial and Take Action)
Advocates for increased resources and sound policy (See Advocacy)
Generates newspaper, television and radio coverage on key issues (See Press)

The Voice for Progress
While many serious health problems can be addressed inexpensively and effectively with the right knowledge, too often practical advances in public health are not widely shared. The Council seeks to gather such knowledge and make it accessible for those who can use it to save lives. The Council:

Disseminates information through publications (GLOBAL HEALTH magazine, and Technical Reports such as Global Health Opportunities)
Shares knowledge through events such as the international annual conference (annual conference)
Identifies and disseminates the evidence to support what works and what does not work to improve health and promotes and conducts research to fill identified knowledge gaps. (Research & Analysis)
